Freeman and Capstone squared off at Alice Nobile Ice Arena on Sunday, September 20, 2026, and the evening needed a shootout to settle it, with null finally prevailing 3–3. Chad Mingay drew first blood for Freeman in the 1st period, setting the tone for a lively night of scoring.

Period by period: the teams traded 1 apiece in the 1st period; Freeman took the 2nd period by a 1–0 count; Capstone took the 3rd period by a 2–1 count. The score was tied 3 times, because neither team could stand to let the other enjoy anything. Capstone managed the night's only back-to-back tallies.

On the scoresheet, Casey McGrady (2G, 1A), Chad Mingay (1G, 2A), Jamie Best (1G, 1A), Andy Mingay (1G, 1A) chipped in multi-point nights. The rest of the roster contributed moral support and timely line changes.

Elsewhere: shots finished Freeman 19, Capstone 31 — the Freeman netminder was the busier of the two; Capstone made themselves a little too familiar with the penalty box (0–1); when overtime solved nothing, Freeman took the shootout and the extra point.
